One of the things I like about working the desk is that you never know what you'll end up learning about, thinking about, etc. when the day begins. I don't even remember what the patron's request was that got me thinking about a visit I made to Mont St Michel several years ago. Whatever it was caused me to think of Mont St Michel as something to search within Flicker. On my own visit I remember being surrounded by beauty, calm, and the ingenuity of humans who thought to build on this rock. The photograph I found seemed the antithesis of these things -- and did have the skeptic in me wondering how much photoshop played a role in this...
