One of the problems I have with the internet is the overabundance of information, and the overabundance of strange things that don't necessarily add value to my life but suck up a lot of time. When I used the search tools to find interesting feeds I felt an overwhelming feeling of information overload. For that reason, I much prefer to find something of interest through more traditional means such as, reading about it somewhere, hearing about it from a friend, etc. I was able to find an interesting, and possibly useful, RSS feed through one of the recommended search sites, but I think I would have been fine without knowing of its existence.
I thought I would find the wikis on library related blogs more interesting. But, there were so many blogs listed, and other than some of the titles being bolded, there wasn't really a way for me to
determine if the blog would be of interest without actually clicking on it and reading it. The thought of spending time looking at each blog seemed to overwhelming. If anyone out there has a library related blog they really like I'd be interested in recommendations.....
In addition to using RSS feeds to tell patrons about upcoming events and programs, RSS feeds would be a great way to send patrons reading recommendations and blurbs about newly acquired materials.
